I live on the edge of the country, which means there are lots of long roads that people drive on too fast, and there are also lots of animals that get hit and killed by the cars. I take photos of some of the roadkill for two reasons.
First it is a rare opportunity to photograph some animals that are otherwise difficult to get close to. Wildlife photography is hard because the subjects hardy ever cooperate with you, so I try not pass up an opportunity to photograph a still subject.
Second, I think it’s horrible how many people simply don’t care whether or not they kill something while driving, and I hope that my photos may encourage some people to drive more carefully.
